BlendTec Home HPA-621-B The Professional's Choice 1500-Watt Programmable Blender and FREE Shipping Review

BlendTec Home HPA-621-B The Professional's Choice 1500-Watt Programmable Blender and FREE Shipping
Average Reviews:

I purchased this blender only three months ago and I'm already on my third one. After only a few weeks, the first one suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. I called Customer Service and they said it was due to a known issue with the electronics. As a raw foodist, I depend on my blender DAILY, so going a week without one while I awaited the arrival of the replacement was a significant hardship. Now, only four weeks after receiving the second one, it suddenly stopped working. Needless to say, I'm not a happy customer. They have one more shot. If this one fails, I'm reversing the charge and going with a Vita-mix.

Sprout Garden Complete Starter Kit Review

Sprout Garden Complete Starter Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this sprout garden for my daughter, who one week later called me to tell me they'd just made pizza with cream cheese, onions, ham, peppers and broccoli sprouts. I'm not clear on the 'health' aspect of sprouts with ham and pizza, but it's a different generation. The point is the sprouts sprouted - quickly - and she's enjoying the convenience, fun and money-saving of growing her own sprouts. Recommended.

Vita-Mix 1320 Professional Series, Platinum Review

Vita-Mix 1320 Professional Series, Platinum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife and I have two Vita-Mix blenders. We bought one at a fair 6 years ago, and picked up a new-in-the-box commercial model at an auction about 3 years ago. We have used both heavily. Vita-Mix blenders are tall (too tall to fit under typical kitchen cabinets), heavy, loud, and very, very effective. Like most, we've burned through any number of typical home blenders. The Vita-Mix blenders last.
Customer service is superb. We've had exactly one problem - the variable speed dial got really difficult to turn. With about two weeks go to on the original 5-year warranty (warranties have changed since - they're longer now), Vita-Mix fixed the base, including paying shipping both ways, and also told us to send along the container so they could make sure it was in good shape - and then replaced the blade for us.
Vita-Mix blenders come with a tamper, and a lid designed to take the tamper. Most of the time you don't need it. It comes in handy for very thick, very cold blends, like thick smoothies, ice cream, etc. You will absolutely, positively need to have a tamper - or stop and use a scraper - with ANY blender, no matter how powerful, the shape of the container, or configuration of the blades. "Tamper" is actually something of a misnomer. While it is used to tamp at times, it actually changes the mixing dynamics by effectively taking up part of the volume at the center of the container, eliminating cavitation in mixes where that's helpful.
The Vita-Mix base units are heavy because they use heavy-duty motors. Don't be taken in by competing companies' horsepower claims with lighter-duty motors with half the weight. The competitors hit higher horsepower ratings by running their motors at higher speeds. All blender motors run fast, of course, and bumping up the horsepower by pulling more amps this way can be appropriate for some motor applications, but you can't consider one factor in a vacuum. The Vita-Mix motors are heavy, and heavy motors last longer by using heavier cores and windings, both of which make the motor stand up longer to heavy use and heat without breaking down. Vita-Mix containers also employ a heavy flywheel below the blades. That, in conjunction with the heavier-duty motor, is what gives you longevity, and the ability to chop heavy stuff for years. If you look at the motor-to-container connector, you will also see that the Vita-Mix uses a larger diameter connector - less stress, more life, and lower possibility of stripping.
I do wish they were quieter, but the competitors are in the same ballpark, claims to the contrary notwithstanding. The height can be dealt with by simply storing the container away from the base (which we leave on the countertop). My only real complaint is the cost of extra containers. I'd love one of the 32oz containers, but think $100-$120 (typical price at a fair)is too much.

Works almost as advertised. But by the third batch, with good cleanings inbetween, it was slime city. Yuk! Tried peroxide like the brochure said and did little. Can't find the other recommended item grapefruit seed extract anywhere. Have resorted to a bleach mixture which I'm sure shorten the life of the system.

HP3A Blendtec 3 hp Food Fruit Blender Blend-tec Review

HP3A Blendtec 3 hp Food Fruit Blender Blend-tec
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're serious about getting a real blender, it comes down to Blendtec and Vita-Mix. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these "real" blenders. All the others are fine, I guess. I'd been making do with a classic Waring and a cheap new thing that promised to circulate the contents in some kind of wave motion. Whatever. They both made enough noise to drown out a helicopter landing on my roof, and I seriously feared they'd fly apart and I'd die from shrapnel wounds. And they were such a pain to clean that I regretted pulling them out of the cupboard in the first place. I needed something better, and man, did I find it!
I chose the Blendtec for the following reasons:
-it's smaller
-no knobs or crevices to clean or gum up
-square pitcher pours better
-3 HP motor (!)
-excellent design and choice of materials
-Vita-Mix is incredibly ugly -- I wonder if that was on purpose or just some unfortunate accident?
-relatively quiet -- if you want to hear loud, come over and I'll dig out my old blenders and make you a smoothie
-Extremely easy to clean
Yes, I love it and haven't found anything about it I'd change.

Blendtec WildSide HP3A Blender - 3 Qt (96 oz) Container & 4" Blade - BLACK Review

Blendtec WildSide HP3A Blender - 3 Qt (96 oz) Container and 4 Blade - BLACK
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've repeatedly tried to dramatically increase my consumption of raw fruits and greens with little success. It is extremely difficult to chew large quantities of produce. Blended food is the answer. I have prepared all manner of concoctions using the Blentec WildSide blender which are delicious and nutritious. The Blendtec works as advertised. It is loud, but tolerably so. My drinks, smoothies and sauces are blended to smooth perfection in a remarkably short period of time. I definitely recommend getting the 96 oz container. I prepare food for one, or sometimes two, and find this larger size to be perfect. The container is also very easy to clean. I debated whether to buy the Blendtec or the Vitamix; after researching, I decided on the Blentec and am very pleased with my decision. The product is expensive, but it works very, very well. I use it several times a day. Think of it this way: instead of cooking your food on a stove or in an oven, you are processing the food in a blender. You are essentially cooking without heat.

Vita-Mix 1321 Professional Series, Ruby Review

I saw this Vita-Mix and a Home and Garden show in Anaheim Califorina. I was very impressed and wanted to but it but I was low on cash so I waited till I had the money and bought the professional version. It comes with a wonderful DVD and the receipe book is just out of this world. This mixer does everything but cook a steak on the BBQ. The DVD explains all the things it can do like make soup and bread dough. I thought I was just going to make fresh fruit with wheat germ, honey and soy protein drinks. I was totally wrong. And I'm glad I am because it is worth every penny. Make sure you get the DVD and book with any model you choose it is worth it. I love mine and I'm sure you will too. I use it every day and clean up takes seconds.

Use it everyday for smoothies, salad dressings, frozen desserts etc etc. It is a workhorse and works as advertised. Saves a lot of time. We grate parmesan cheese and its perfect every time. Margaritas, fresh peanut butter..I could go on and on or maybe I have. Haha. Anyway, if in your budget, buy it.

Vitamix CIA Professional Series Variable-Speed Countertop Blender with 2+ HP Motor and 64-Ounce Jar
Average Reviews:

However, please be aware that unit cannot handle heavy loads that thicken quickly. Be sure there is plenty of liquid if used on high speed. Unit twice in two weeks shut down on me, once for 8 hours because the ingredients thickened quickly (potato-leek soup). I had to finish recipe in my food processor. Because of this sensitivity, if I had to do it over again, I would put my investment elsewhere.

Vita-Mix Vita Prep 3 Review

Vita-Mix Vita Prep 3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Vita-Prep is really a chef's dream come true. This thing is a workhorse. We've had it for 2 years now, and it still works just like the day we bought it. We love it. Smoothies are a breeze, and it will chop up stuff so efficiently that you could make juice out of just about anything. Whole Carrots = Carrot juice. Cabbage = Cabbage juice. Old laptop? No problem, laptop juice. This thing grinds up anything - Nuts into dust, ice into gelato. If money is an issue, the regular vita-mix is almost as good and the difference is not that significant. I decided to spend the extra money over the regular Vita-Mix because I figured that I'd have it for a long time (7 year guarantee) and I didn't want to look back on the purchase and wish and wonder about the nicer model. And, while 30-50% more money than the regular Vita-Mix, I wouldn't say it is really 50% better, but noticeably better for sure. I'm happy that I spent the extra money, but probably would have also been happy with the regular vita-mix. If money isn't an issue, or if you're somebody who just really appreciates the best, go ahead and buy this and you'll enjoy it for many many years. Whatever you do, make sure that the vita-mix model you buy has a variable speed control - don't buy their cheap one.

Vita-Mix CIA Restaurant Commercial Blender Review

Vita-Mix CIA Restaurant Commercial Blender
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Necessity or Luxury: Depends on if you have experienced it (& if you plan on using it regularly)
As a guy who takes his smoothies and soups very seriously, it is a necessity for me. While some might argue about the price (Covers the purchase of an average blender every year into perpetuity if purchase price is invested in an annuity), I find comparisons to other blenders moot as the results from the Vitamix is not reproducible by an average blender (no strawberry/blackberry seeds in your smoothie, no bell pepper seeds in your soup). And, cleaning takes seconds!
The Motor of the Vitamix 5200 is the same as the CIA Commercial blender and costs a little less. The CIA edition comes with an exhaustive recipe book and a CD. Did I mention the blend sound reminds me of a revving Ferrari? (All the more reason to go RED!)

Vita Mix 1723 Professional Series 200 Blender, Onyx Review

Vita Mix 1723 Professional Series 200 Blender, Onyx
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This thing is AWESOME. I'm so glad we took the plunge! This blender is the BEST one I have EVER used. Blends ice perfectly, leaving no chunks, easy clean up, makes soup. I'm pretty sure it would chop up rocks if you tried. My husband and I have been using this to make shakes in the mornings. I put strawberries, other frozen fruits, halves of apples (with the core and seeds still in tact), ice...everything comes out perfectly for a smoothie. The seeds from the strawberries don't even make it through the blend.
I can pull out my fruits, blend a smoothie, and clean up in less than 2 minutes.
Don't deceive yourself into thinking, though, that you will never use the damper. If you make thick shakes, you will use the damper every time....
For those that don't know, you can make your own soups (add your veggies and broth) and run the blender for a full minute or two. It will heat your ingredients right up.
Clean up is as simple as adding a few drops of liquid dish soap, a little warm water, run blender for about 20 seconds, and rinse out!
