What sold me was the Consumer Digest review which rated the Native Juicer higher than the Breville but for less money--seemed like an easy decision. Perhaps my experience was a fluke and I just got a bad one. But I had a bad feeling from the minute I got the box...it seemed really cheap. The packaging was cheap, the plastic parts seemed on the thin fragile side, and the instructions were a one-pager folded, which read "2-year warranty" not the 7-year I'd seen online. That being said, I never got a chance to find out which it was, 2 or 7 years, as my Native Juicer made this nasty metal on metal sound when trying to juice a soft tomato. This was my 8th glass on this machine and after carefully washing everything, I gave it one last shot. I gave it another tomato and it started smoking, so I just returned it for a refund. I'm not totally sure about this variable speed motor concept. It seems like a lot of problems waiting to happen. Also the thin plastic lid made me nervous with the blade spinning thousands of RPMs. It's probably comparable to a lot of models of similar design, but I don't care, it still seems dangerous. The blue display is nice, but I don't like how the speed knob is just a pot and doesn't have fixed values. On the one hand, what do you expect for under $200, but I'd rather spend more $ and get something that I can enjoy for a while. The pulse button was shallow and felt cheap. Although it didn't work out, for 7 glasses, the juice was pretty awesome and tasty. I got my refund quickly, Michele was very nice and apologetic and the return was painless, so I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.
